St Stephen's AIDS Trust

The St Stephen’s AIDS Trust research unit provides an important source of
treatment and care to those living with HIV.
HIV research takes time, and requires huge financial support. St Stephen’s AIDS Trust does not receive government funding. We are funded entirely though our clinical trials activity and generous support from donations and legacies.
The research unit is always looking for volunteers and HIV positive patients to take part in clinical trials. Currently we are recruiting for trials. All research is performed by experienced research nurses and world leading HIV physicians according to the highest ethical and regulatory standards of Good Clinical Practice (GCP) in accordance with UK clinical trial regulations.

HIV testing

We employ all available testing, from antibody tests to combination tests, to determine whether a person has been exposed to the particular virus.

adherence and resistance

We use two major approaches to treating the virus: adherence and resistance. Adherence refers to how closely a person follows their regimen of HIV medications, while resistance refers to HIV's capacity to adapt and acquire drug resistance.

mental health problems

We have licensed psychologists who work with HIV patients and are familiar with their experiences; as a result, they use all practical methods to preserve their mental health.

Our Mission Statement
