Dr David Hawkins
Dr Hawkins is a Consultant Physician in HIV/Genitourinary Medicine at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital in London. He is an Honorary Senior Lecturer in the Division of Immunology Imperial College School of Medicine. Dr Hawkins was a member of the Government’s Expert Advisory Group on AIDS (EAGA) for over a decade and has Chaired or been a Member of numerous Working Parties, producing National and International Guidelines for the management of HIV and Sexually Transmitted Infections.
He is also an author of guidelines on the management of HIV in pregnancy on behalf of the British HIV Association (BHIVA). Recently he was elected to be a member of the UK Advisory Panel for HIV and Hepatitis B & C Infected Healthcare Workers. He has published over 100 peer reviewed papers and written a standard atlas on HIV and STDs.
Current interests include HIV seroconversion, post exposure prophylaxis regimens (PEP) and adherence, HIV in pregnancy, genital dermatoses and syphilis and lymphogranuloma venereum (LGV) outbreak management. |
